Senior Application Engineer (Java)

We are working as a recruitment provider searching on our Client’s behalf for a person in the following role:

Responsibilities

As a Senior Application Engineer, you will work with a complex enterprise application, combining software development with system analysis and modernisation activities. The role involves understanding existing solutions, analysing legacy components and supporting the evolution of the application landscape.

  • Analyse and enhance existing application components and services
  • Perform reverse engineering based on source code, documentation and business processes
  • Design and implement Java-based solutions and system improvements
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Support application modernisation and legacy system upgrades
  • Define and develop automated test scenarios
  • Collaborate with technical teams to analyse, troubleshoot and resolve system issues

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Java development
  • Strong knowledge of Java 8+, Spring Boot, Spring and Hibernate/JPA
  • Experience working with legacy systems and complex enterprise applications
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, system integrations and distributed architectures
  • Experience with RabbitMQ, Oracle databases and application servers
  • Ability to analyse existing codebases and technical documentation
  • Experience with Git, Maven, Jenkins, GitLab and CI/CD tools
  • English at B2 level or higher
