Why Polish Java Developers Are in High Demand

Strona główna » Why Polish Java Developers Are in High Demand

If you don’t know that Java and JavaScript are not the same, then this story may not be for you. It’s not just that these technologies are different, they are completely unrelated. Java is a programming language and computing platform first released by Sun Microsystems in 1995. JavaScript drives web development.

According to Statista, the most used programming language among developers worldwide as of 2024 was JavaScript. Java is only the seventh most used programming language. This is the same result that leading programming platform Stack Overflow has reported. Why is that? JavaScript’s popularity stems from its dominance in web development, while Java excels in enterprise applications like banking and e-commerce systems. Java’s stability and scalability make it a staple for enterprise systems, unlike the more flexible JavaScript and Python.

Often using Reddit is a way of gauging users feedback first hand. One popular user on Reddit suggested that “startups are sexy and are more likely to use a language like javascript or python because they are trying to develop fast and don’t care about throughput because they don’t have many users like large enterprises do.”

Is the same the case with Polish java developers?

Are Java Developers in Demand in Poland?

A quick search of leading Polish jobs portal pracuj.pl shows 1,046 vacancies with Java needed in Poland today. Interestingly, Java is not the most sought-after technology from developers (or engineers) in Poland today. JavaScript is listed in 1,208 job ads, while Python is needed as a skill for 1,721 vacancies, to give some context.

Glassdoor lists 2,195 job that need Java in Poland today, whereas there are 3,288 jobs needed Python. JavaScript is also popular with 2,003 roles live currently.

These results don’t quite correlate with Stack Overflow’s findings or with what Reddit users have commented. However, it may be the case that recruiters find it easier to source JavaScript or Python experience than Java. We reached out to Milena Gorka, Senior IT Recruitment Expert at Verita HR Group to find out more.

“We are not seeing a drop in demand for candidates with expertise in Java,” Milena shared. “In fact, the more sophisticated the project, the more the chances that Java is needed.”

Over the years Java Developers continue to be in high demand. I have been working with tech specialists for over six years at Verita HR, and during that time there was only a brief period when demand dropped. That was when layoffs in the tech sector were at their peak early in 2024.”

As the market continues to evolve in Poland, we do not foresee a significant drop in demand for tech specialists with Java knowledge. In fact, the experience remains nearly as relevant today as it was six years ago, when Java was required in around 25% of developer job postings — compared to approximately 19% in 2025.”

This sustained demand reflects Poland’s growing role as a hub for complex, Java-based projects in finance and tech.

What does the Tech Ecosystem in Poland Have to Say?

The Polish tech ecosystem is a phenomenon. There are several places where one can gauge the mood of tech specialists in Poland. One of those places is the well-known “Problems of the Polish Tech Industry” Facebook group. Java has been mentioned several times already in the group this year, and these posts are not necessarily related to recruiting. They focus on humorous posts, memes, and unique CV snippets.

Another place to find information about developers in Poland is by following @HRejterzy, popular among tech enthusiasts. The platform is supported by the team at CodeTwo, a leading Polish software firm based out of Jelenia Gora.

There are also several recruitment firms in Poland who have worked out that humour is a better way to engage with candidates.

Can Verita HR Help You Find a Java Developer?

Verita HR recruited the first Java developer for a client in 2013. Since then the company have supported multiple companies in finding talented tech specialists with knowledge of Java. Today there are more than fifteen Java developer vacancies at Verita HR on behalf of various clients.

According to LinkedIn there are over 85,000 people in Poland who list “Java Developer” in their profile. There are likely many more passive candidates in the market too. This figure highlights Poland’s deep talent pool, though many are passive candidates requiring proactive outreach.

To help clients find the best talent, Verita HR has a strong team of tech recruiters. They are led by a charismatic team leader and subject matter expert. The team often attend tech events to help them stay abreast of the market. Some of these events include the Women in Tech Summit, Infoshare, or HackYeah. In addition, Verita HR has created a large community of almost 5,500 members who engage regularly with the team through the “Recruitment in information Technology IT – Poland (5000+)” group on LinkedIn. On Facebook you can also find Verita HR’s team active in “ITy lubisz IT” as well as various groups specific to cities across Poland.
